My Manicures March 2013

Painted for Prestonfield

It's been a few months since I've been to The Prestonfield so it was time for another visit and this time I introduced my dear friend Carol and her husband Russ to the experience.  As usual, I booked a table at 3pm and planned to stay until 7pm.  This time, we were given the Leather Room so we were alone with leather wallpaper, a roaring fire and several armchairs and sofas.

I managed to do a manicure in one hour before we left the house and this is what I came up with.  I used OPI "Eurso Euro" and "Get Your Number" in a half moon inspired by Cris at Let Them Have Polish and I added an accent nail in Zoya "Godiva" and stamping by Pueen which I just got via my US polish mule (an instagram buddy).

p.s. I forgot to add that as we were leaving, Annie Lennox came out of The Yellow Room to go in for dinner!!!

Kiko "Kreative"

Kiko peach and mint I chose,
For my fingers but not my toes,
Known as 631 and 636 by name,
A roughened texture is their claim,
I paired them with some glossy shine,
Some stamping on these fingers mine,
One by Gals and one by Mash,
The shine against the rough to clash,
On my thumb Carmen does Shimmer,
To add an extra tad of glimmer,
To this manicure of mine,
From me to your eyes to find.

Mad Catters Crafty Market and Makeover....

Otherwise known as how I spent my Saturday!

It was expected to be a freezing wintry day in March, much colder over the Forth Bridge in Fife where I was headed on Saturday.  I even wore my polka dot wellies in anticipation but although it was 2 degrees celsius colder there and a bitter wind, the snow held off so that was a welcome relief!

The husband and I set off early as he'd offered to come along to help me set up (and read more of the Wizard of Oz books to pass his time) and we set up my table with my polka dot table cloth and my posters, business cards, swatch sticks, 200 polishes and a slideshow of my manicures on my tablet.  You might spot the running polka dot theme to match my blog because I'm dotty about dots!

I met a lovely girl called Maria who had never heard of stamping although she had some beautiful freehand Aztec nail art on her fingers.  She wanted me to show her how stamping worked so the lesson commenced with some neons on her nails and a shopping list for her to save up her pennies for!

Deja Vu

This is a nod to a mani of months gone past,
With a little twist, have I surpassed?
Each has it's own charm and delight,
Both with dots but one with studs on white,
Both with Sooki's blood red stain abound,
A rose amongst the toothy hound,
This mani is for the Saturday charity stall,
To showcase my work, to hopefully enthral,
To include much variety on one hand,
Stamping, dots, freehand, jewels for any demand,
If you're in the bonnie wee Lochgelly town,
pop by and I will your fingers crown,
With painted delights in any shade,
My hands will weave magic and show you of what I'm made.

And here is the mani from months gone by:

Zoya Color Cutie

Inspiration comes from everywhere,
From fairies, pixies, ideas floating in the air,
Some Shelby, Arizona, Kristen and Perrie,
A little Wednesday made this manicure by me,
All products magicked up by Zoya of course,
For that's my inspiration, my muse, my source.

My Manicure: Fairy Moon

From fairies came some pixie dust,
This magic delight was a surefire must,
Arriving with moons upon my tips,
Two shades in a half lunar eclipse,
Curves found within the same view,
This manicure from me to you.

My Manicure: Mmmmm....Mimi's

It's a Saturday, it's a Saturday,
Off to Mimi's Bakehouse today,
Meeting some  pals,
With my stamping from gals,
Atop a czechbook of blue,
With Sunny's cotton candy too,
This creation was quick,
But it looks span and spic,
Nothing less about my spots,
For I'm dotty about dots,
I hope you like it too,
This manicure from me to you.

Silver Statuette

As soon as I saw Halle Berry's dress for the Oscars, I thought "manicure"!

Here's my interpretation using OPI "Don't Pretzel My Buttons", Zoya "Trixie" and acrylic paint mattified (which shows every error!)

Sweet Tooth

On Saturday I got some lovely nail mail: Kiko sugar matt polishes!  I like them so much I've ordered some more today with a 20% off discount code that I forgot to use the first time (and most of their new metallics collection too!).

Here is a manicure I've done with one of them: shade 645 and half moons and stamping with China Glaze "Hi-Tek":

Here are some photos of the colours I got:

The red looks just like the milani textured red so I'm glad I'm able to get a dupe much easier than on ebay!
