My Purple Pal

Purple Gleam adorns me to meet a friend,
For purple she loves whatever the trend,
I've paired it with a Cozy glitter from Beyond,
Their sparkles making the perfect blend.

My ring finger was inspired by an instagrammer called Veronica's Nails.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

No sign of snow and truth be told, I'd rather it didn't either as it's just messy and annoying having to scrape the car clear!  My xmas manicure is on my fingers as I'm about to head to a friend's for drinks, it is using A England "Lady of Shalott" with stamping in Barry M "silver" using a multitude of plates from Konad, Bundle Monster and Red Angel:

My First Contest....

Anutka at Wacki Lacky is holding a contest and the theme matches my current manicure exactly so I've entered my first ever contest!

I've sent in my manicure with the following poem:

Here is my first entry to a contest,
I do so hope you judge it the best,
I'm oft inspired by all I see,
In clothes, in nature, the deep blue sea,
My monochrome mani is from a carpet red,
From frocks worn by two ladies drop dead,
Their glamour was something to behold,
I hope my mani is similarly extolled.

Red Carpet Glamour

For this manicure I freehanded A England "Camelot" over OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls " and used jewels from Cult Nails over a half moon in OPI "Designer de Better".

Instagram Is My Friend.....

This manicure is inspired by an Instagram follower called "nailpolishtherapy".  She started to follow me the other day and bemoaned her lack of creativity so I challenged her to create a manicure of a dress she was wearing in one of her photos.  The dress is totally up my street in style and pattern, the style is one I have a few of myself.

First up is my manicure and second is nailpolishtherapy's.

I used A England "Camelot" and Essie "Size Matters" with a bundle monster plate and some freehand.

Zig-A-Zig-Aah!

Cracked open my new mash plates to try out this zig zag print (one of the reasons I bought them in the first place!)

You won't believe it but I actually did a gradient with China Glaze under the stamp using "First Mate" and "Grape Pop".  However it disappeared when I did a multi colour stamp using the Essie Metallics "Blue Rhapsody" and "Nothing Else Metals".

On my ring finger, I used zig zag craft scissors to create an enlarged version of my stamp.

On my thumb I am wearing "First Mate" with Crow Toes "Purple People Eater" which is amazing micro glitter in blue and purple that looks like one of the Ozotic polishes.  I did use some PPE on the tips of all my nails before stamping.

I love this and will be wearing this zig zag look a few more times!

Something Scottish

Who doesn't like a tunnock's tea cake?! A marshmallow mound on a biscuit base enveloped in chocolate: yum! And the wrapper is the inspiration for my manicure today.

I used A England "Perceval" and Zoya "Trixie":

Bluemetric

Today's manicure is inspired by Sophie from My Awesome Beauty, she creates the most beautiful tape manis which I have admired for the last year and now one adorns my fingers. I have added my own spin by stamping on some accent nails with my Magno plate.

For this mani I used Nubar "Faded Putty", Essie "Brooch the Subject", China Glaze "Aquadelic" and Nails Inc "Baker Street".

My Manicures Oct 2012

A Colour Game

Once upon a time, a young girl took a trip far away to the big apple and visited the Guggenheim and it's gift shop.  There she purchases a game of colour by Ted Naos, a game of cards with which to create any combination of pattern she chose.

Many years later, as she picked up the game on her desk and chose a new colour pattern, she creating something that she knew would  look amazing on her fingertips.  And thus, this manicure was born.

She used China Glaze "Beach Cruiser", Orly "Melt Your Popsicle" and A England "Camelot":

Kelly Gold

Today's effort is one I adore using Zoya Kelly, Barry M Gold, Shimmer Tracy and Red Angel stamping. Et voila!

Disaster Day

I forgot to post my disasters last Sunday when I hated a manicure I spent 4 hrs on, albeit dallying on time between coats.  I ended up removing it, started another and removing that too so this was third time lucky for this manicure....

Disaster number one first (no picture of disaster number two) and then what I wore for the whole week.

My Birthday Manicure

It's my birthday and I'm having a lazy day :)  Not much different than my usual weekend pastime lol.  But last Saturday was my joint birthday night out with five others so quiet one tonight.  Instead, I'm off out to my favourite place for afternoon tea tomorrow with my Tassie best friend and my sister.

Today's manicure is a skittle of gradients, stamping and glitter using Zoya "Ciara" with Orly "Liquid Vinyl" and the glitters OPI "Metallic 4 Life" and Shimmer "Karina" featuring a red angel stamp in Barry M silver.

Saturday Night

I am in love with this manicure.  It's that beautiful.  See for yourself!

I used Color Club "Where's the Soiree?" with a gradient in OPI "Jade is the New Black" and Zoya"Charla" before stamping in Barry M "Gold" with Bundle Monster plate 314.

Triple Whammy

This post was destined to be called "Double Disappointment" as I had two manicures to post but that has since grown to four, one of which deserves a separate post.  The others were not a great execution or finished product hence the disappointment.

So, without further ado:

The first was for wedding no.3 for my my cousin's wedding reception.  My thumb is 4 different polishes: China Glaze Towel Toy Boy with CG Atlantis and then Shimmer Lianna and Crow Toes Thing.  I tried to recreate a design by Lucy's Stash but it was a very poor imitation.

The second one is my first time using Zoya Veruschka.

The third was a quick manicure on a school night this week when I went out clubbing to the student union at a not so student age to see a DJ called Mr Scruff.  I was wearing one of my favourite polka dot knitted dresses in red and quickly did this to match.  I dinged one of them getting a handbag out though!

Purple Reign

This is my fourth manicure in a week!  A rarity as I always wear a manicure for a week but recently I haven't loved each manicure enough and felt like a change every other day.

Purple reigns supreme in this manicure with Zoya "Monica", Zoya "Daul" with stamping in Barry M "Gold" and China Glaze "Grape Pop" and my very first jelly sandwich with "Monica" and Zoya "Katherine" and the glitter I used was Candy Lacquer "Gumballs" and Crow Toes "Thing".

For once I am using a new polish the day it arrives instead of chucking it in an untried drawer!

This manicures uses the newest member of my polish family: China Glaze "Deviantly Daring" and an old favourite: Zoya "Trixie" with Konad M57.

Turquoise TOWIE

This manicure is for a wedding tomorrow! A wedding for a friend of my husband's who is from Essex so UK readers will get the TOWIE reference lol.  He used to live in Edinburgh for a few years so he's chosen to come back to Scotland and the wedding will be in the Scottish borders.  I am wearing a turquoise flower print, beaded, strapless maxi dress as pictured above and my manicure is also turquoise.

For turquoise TOWIE I used the polishes China Glaze "Towel Toy Boy", Essie "Penny Talk", Crow Toes "Thing" and studs from born pretty in gold and turquoise with stamping using a Dashica plate.

I'll update on Sunday night with some photos from the wedding!

Sir Dotalot

# I like big dots and I cannot lie #

I've been planning a manicure in the pattern of a knitted dress I own for a long time.  When the dotted lines idea came onto the scene, I knew it would be the perfect way to execute my dress pattern.  However, I've chosen an entirely different colour scheme as I wanted to wear my favourite raspberry polish: Zoya "Moxie".

In this manicure I used: Zoya "Moxie", Zoya "Perrie", Butter London "Lillibet's Jubilee", Zoya "Demi", Catherine Arley (I've forgotten the number!), Essie "Navigate Her" and Color Club "Foil Me Once".

Carol Fix

Carol is a new found friend,
In whom I've found a magic blend,
Of atheism, mouth and heart no end.
It began when she called me Minnie Mouse,
We found we shared the same ring from our spouse,
And before I knew it, I was around her house!
Her humour is something I adore,
Time spent with her is never a chore,
She's a gem right to her core.
She's been in for a major op,
The doctors went in for a big chop,
And it'll be a while before she's tip top.
So, without dear Carol in the office mix,
I've had to visit to get my Carol fix,
To check and see how's tricks.
For my first visit I decided to bake,
As a joke, I made her a flaming tampon cake,
(FYI, with her op, she'll have no more PMS ache).
The cake was very well received,
By Carol, nurses, doctors and all who perceived,
The humour intended was achieved.
Today I went with my own box of tricks,
Bestowing a purple manicure to her digits,
While I received my much missed Carol fix.

In this manicure I used a third of my collection of purple polishes, here is a list of what I used:

  • A England "Lady of the Lake"
  • A England "Elaine"
  • A England "Guinevere"
  • A England "Avalon"
  • Candy Lacquer "Candies and Sprinkles"
  • Barry M "Lavender Hexograms"
  • Butter London "Lillibet's Jubilee"
  • Nubar "Hyacinth Sparkles"
  • Color Club "Lavendarling"
  • Nfu-Oh "FS16"
  • Zoya "Nimue"

English Denim

For today's manicure, I went a little stud crazy and studded all my fingers and thumbs!

I used Zoya "Kirsten" and A England "Tristam" to create two strips of colour on each nail and embellished the border with gold studs, et voila:

xoxo

I'm still disappointed with the above pic so I've just taken another one.  No sunshine so no holo to report again.  Annoyed now that I didn't have my camera on me yesterday when I sat in the blazing sunshine!  But here you go:

Rambling Red

Today's manicure is one for a few firsts:

  • First time using OPI "I'm not really a waitress".
  • First time using studs.
  • First time using this Konad stamp.

I haven't worn any kind of nail decoration before and I'm loving the studs.  They are pretty flush to the nail so they don't feel too obtrusive.
